I was very excited to get this new version of Candy Land for my daughter’s birthday. I was extremely disappointed upon purchasing. You have to create your own gameboard which is virtually impossible for younger kids (my daughter is 5) and quite a task for older children. It takes as much time or more to set up as it does to actually play the game. The gameboeard pieces don’t fit well together and cannot be assembled on carpet and they fall apart with any movement at all on a hard surface. The concept of the game is cute and my 3 daughters seemed enjoyed playing the game after we finally assembled it, but the gameboard is so poorly constructed that it really takes away from any enjoyment you get from playing. I can’t tell you how many times I reconnected gameboard pieces when my kids and their friends played. Don’t waste your money on this game until a newly constucted board game comes out.

This is a terrible version of the classic Candy Land game. The path doesn’t stay together on carpet so you either have to play on a hard surface or deal with the path constantly coming apart. Don’t waste your money on this version! If you’re looking for another version of Candy Land, try the Candy Land Castle Game. It’s great especially for little ones who are just learning to play games.

Has many pieces and set-up takes a long time. By the time it was set-up the kids had left to do something else. Keeps coming apart and takes a large area to play. We ended up taping some of it together. It was ok to play after that, but would have put something else on my kids wish list if i had realized the way it was. Original is much better.

Candyland has been a classic for generations of children. The boardgame is still excellent, but this version is simply dreadful. Someone has to assemble the multiple pieces of the “board” each time the game us played. This is a waste of time. The pieces of the path are thin, cheaply made, and come easily apart to frustrate the younger players. Do NOT buy this so called Candyland Sweet celebration. There is nothing to celebrate and assembling it each time you play is not sweet. Go for the old solid gameboard if you want to enjoy your experience playing with your child or grandchild.

This is one of the times that works in theory but doesnt work in real life.

The path can be changed, but it takes an adult with a lot of patience to work out the path correctly and the pieces dont stay together very well.

Get the original game and have fun – right out of the box.
