Aren’t grandparents the best? Some of my best memories as a child consist of those days I went around with my grandfather as he did errands. I didn’t have my grandmother for long in this lifetime (she passed away when I was less than two years old). I got to know of my grandmother through my mother, and know she watches over us, as does my grandfather now that he has joined her in heaven. It’s a beautiful thing to see my own mother take on the grandmother role with joy and zest. National Grandparents Day is this Sunday, September 7, 2008. We owe so much to Destiny Baby’s grandmother, who is as much a part of raising and teaching him as we are. Join families everywhere across the nation and celebrate your parents in their role as grandparents! A friend shared with me the following poem about grandparents:
Grandparents have an important role in the lives of their grandchildren
They provide a bridge between the past and the future,
which provides their grandchildren with a sense of stability.
And they offer their grandchildren the two most valuable gifts: time and love.
