Where are the parents who care about public education ??

Parents, it’s up to you. Teachers can’t change the testing trend. We get blackballed if we speak up. We can’t teach with all this testing going on! Parents are concerned about grades on standardized tests(s.t.’s). Be concerned about their education, their future. Parents move their children to communities that score well on s.t.’s. They think they are doing right. These schools have little incentive to teach your child anything above the requirements of the s. t.’s. Good teachers are now so limited they are losing incentive to teach. Mediocre teachers want the paycheck. Bad teachers know how to play the system. Ethical teaches – gone/ holding out for retirement. New teachers are lost, do what they are told. They want out & they get out ASAP. Greedy, lazy, corrupt administrators & lawmakers get rich, put their yes men in charge & spend frivolously on meetings, dinners, trendy learning gimmicks. They ignore teacher pay. You get what you pay for. They win, kids lose.

Wow…that was a mouthful. But, I agree with you. More and more teachers are limited to what they can and cannot do. Statistics prove that what is going on, certainly is failing. The United States is far behind other countries when it comes to educating our children. The testing that is required takes away from class time, and that time could be used more wisely. Teachers that have innovative teaching techniques that really are able to reach the students are not being able to use their skills as effectively. Something definitely needs to change.
