here’s the deal. i’m 19 and my boyfriend is 22. we both love each other for sure, but sometimes i feel like he questions if i’m going to be faithful, and trustworthy in the FUTURE. We both want to get married. he asked me to marry him but not officially. Now he wants to slow down with this mariage thing because he heard that this lady married a man in our church and divorced him after two children, took the house, car and kids. now the man is heart broken and homeless basically. also a sililar thing happened to his dad and stepmom they are separated. his dad got kicked out. nw he wants to bring that story to me wanting me to say i’ll never do that to him. and he says i’m young now but later i will learn the system and leave him homeless. he says he’s scared. and of course i believe i wont do that to him because i love him. i dont understand why women do that to their husbands. i also want to know if i’m really being neive in believing that everything will workout fine for us?HELP!!

You should wait before you get married. Sounds like you both are unsure. Try living together for a while first to show each other you can deal with each other.

What’s wrong with waiting??? Just take your time and give him some time, if you are meant to be together you will. Not all women do stuff like that to there husbands, I would never dream of doing something like that to my husband I love him, and I think you really have to love this guy and respect him if you are going to marry him, give him time to breath! Only time will tell.

Give it some time. Obviously he is very effected by what happened to his parents and step mom. It is hard when your role models go through that. My parents divorced after I moved out and I have a different way of looking at love and married then my siblings do that were still young at home. He really should get some counseling to help him through the process and probably couple counseling with you. You could also offer a simple prenuptial and maybe that would ease his mind, even though if he truly trusted you there wouldn’t be a need. There are never any guarantees in life but if he isn’t willing to let go it will never work.

Women do not generally marry men for anything but love. There r a few such as ANNA NICHOLE SMITH but that just does not happen often. Women marry for love 9 times out of 10. I think he is just getting scared and has cold feet. Let him sort things out in his mind- dont push him too hard- u r both still very young and have an entire life ahead of you.
I feel that you are a very concerning person and very caring to deal with this. Every day you see and hear of people divorcing over the silliest stuff. I will be married one year in April. Has it been a struggle, yes it has because my husband is in prison.(I was with him before). You and your boyfriend need to ask each other, can you be there for the good, bad and the ugly? A marriage is all about compromising and communicating and trust. My husband knows that he can trust me and I know that I can trust him. We have that understand of the vows that we took. Now as far as the women taking the men’s homes, I can explain it like this, the women are usually the care takers of the children and therefore some states say that its easier for a man to go a get a place to stay rather than a woman and three children. When your boyfriend is comparing the divorces that are going on around you guys with the relationship that you and him have, reassure him that you will be there for him no matter what. Keep showing him the love you have for him is real. God bless
