We are on our 5th leap pad and although my children love it, we as parent’s are going broke trying to repair and fix this darn thing! I just don’t feel this is an appropriate toy for the 3-5 year olds. It is too delicate and breaks easily. My kids get so upset when it doesn’t work properly and we have invested quite a bit of money in the books and cartridges. Which are sitting unused in a closet because our last two leap pads are (again) broken. Don’t waste your money!

My kids love this toy and I love the educational value of it. However, it stopped working a few months after we bought it. It would turn on but something is wrong with it. It skips words or doesn’t recognise the pen and I’m not sure who can fix it. I am trying to decide if I should buy another since I have another child getting into the reading phase and we have the books.

The lady I worked with was wonderful! I had a problem and she was Johnny on the spot! She refunded my money when I wrote and told her of the problems we came across. Don’t know if I will purchase another leap pad but will be more than glad to work this this gem once more!

I had the same experience as the first two reviewers. My son received one as a gift when he was 3 or 4. He enjoyed playing with it, but would get extremely frustrated when it would malfunction and not do what it was supposed to. He would start pounding the stylus harder to try to make it work, which probably escalated its total failure. When he received a second one as a gift, so I told him to be more careful with this one, but it still stopped working after 6 months despite his best efforts. So now we’ve got lots of stories and cartridges, but no system. My daughter is now at an age where she would enjoy it, but I’m not sure I want to invest in a third…
