I really like this game, I bought it for my 3 year old, and he finds it very engaging. Currently, we play a simplified version (minus the “wild card” farmers, and using the skunks as any other animal).

It is simple enough for him to understand, and helps teach taking turns as well as matching colors and like objects. For my child, it seems to be challenging enough to be interesting without being frustratingly complex. Once he has a handle on the basics, I will introduce the full rules.

The 2 most common complaints I have seen in reviews about this toy are that the haystacks are not durable and that the barn has to be open to pick pieces. I say that these complaints are null and here is why:

First off, the haystacks are cardboard, however so are the pieces from many games (any set of cards and many board games such as Candy Land) In a way, it is part of learning how to play a game properly….you have to take care of the pieces!

Second, you DON’T have to open the top of the barn to select pieces, you can close the top and shake them out of the barn door to prevent picking and choosing.

I would personally recommend this game. While it was a bit pricey, it has a lot of play value and I think it is a good starter into the world of games (simple rules, no small parts, teaches rules that can be applied to other games later). My child also enjoy simply playing with the animals and barn independent of game play as well, and the animals also make a great prop as a counting tool.

Great toy and the kids LOVED it! Purchased this toy for our younger kids. Our 2 year old can even play it easily and with out much coaching! Made of durable plastic and easy for little hands to use. The ‘fence’ that you hide your animals behind is made of cardboard so that might wear out or tear with much use. So far we have not had a problem though. Child must match colors and or faces on the animals to play. Easy and tons of fun!

We love playing this game with our 3 yo. From time to time he needs a little help with clues such as do you have a blue or a cow or a farm boy? But in general he plays this with no problem. He enjoys this game alot.

The game is fun for my kids, but it has a couple of minor flaws. The cardboard haystacks which are supposed to cover up what you have are very effective, but because my kids are young ages 2, 3, and 5, it’s not that big of a deal. Getting the playing pieces out of the barn requires you to open it and then trying not to look at what you are grabbing is a challenge for the youngsters. They needed to make the barn door bigger. Other than those minor items its a fun game.
